Zelensky Says Ukraine has Reached Turning Point in War
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky says Ukraine has reached a strategic turning point in the war with Russia. However, he warned Friday that it is impossible to say how long the fighting, which broke out on February 24 when Russian troops entered his country, will last.
“It is impossible to say how many days it will take to liberate Ukraine. But we can say that we will do it. Because we have already reached a strategic turning point,” the president said in a televised speech.
He also called for more sanctions from the international community against Russia to further increase the pressure. However, the president did not immediately explain the tipping point that Zelensky saw.
Zelensky believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin should be punished for shelling humanitarian corridors, escape routes for civilians agreed upon by both states near Ukrainian cities.
