E-cigarette maker Juul Labs has settled a lawsuit filed by the US state of North Carolina against the vaping company.

The case involved the design and marketing of e-cigarette products specifically aimed at young people.

The American Juul pays the state, among other things, 40 million dollars. The popularity of e-cigarettes has soared in recent years. North Carolina was the first state to sue Juul in May 2019 for alleged advertising targeting minors.

The company has contributed to an “epidemic among minors” of e-cigarette smoking, according to the state complaint.
