The Sicilian Airport Reopened After Etna Eruption

The airport of Catania, Italy, has reopened after an eruption of the volcano Etna. It vomited out ashes and fire for about an hour on Tuesday evening.


Then volcanic ash had to be cleared away at the airport in Sicily.

Authorities are still monitoring the volcano, but the situation is under control, according to Italian media. No one was known to be injured.

The authorities also did not report any damage. Ash did rain over houses, streets and balconies in Catania, which has about 300,000 inhabitants.
