Suspect in Murder of British Politician Says He is Innocent
According to Sky News, the 25-year-old man suspected of stabbing British politician David Amess to death has pleaded not guilty in court.
Ali Harbi Ali was arrested at a church in Leigh-on-Sea shortly after the October 15 stabbing.
Ali also says he is not guilty of preparing for a terrorist attack between May 2019 and September 2021. However, the police saw the killing of Amess as a terrorist act.
Amess has sat in the British Parliament on behalf of the Conservative Party since 1983. In five years, he is the second MP to be killed in his own constituency after Labour’s Jo Cox in 2016.
