Portugal Reopens Doors to Tourists
Portugal’s doors are open again to tourists, the country’s foreign minister, Augusto Santos Silva, said on Friday.
Portugal is one of the first European countries to welcome visitors from other countries again after the relaxation of the corona measures.
“Tourists are welcome in Portugal,” Santos Silva told Observador newspaper.
He explained that while some health checks will be introduced at airports, there will be no mandatory quarantine for those flying in.
Portugal, which has registered 30,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,289 deaths to date, has been slowly easing applicable restrictions since it went into lockdown in mid-March.
It has been less affected than its neighbour Spain or Italy, both of which plan to reopen next month.
