Police: 800 Trump Supporters Invaded the Capitol
About 800 supporters of then-President Trump invaded the Capitol building in Washington on Jan. 6, Capitol police estimate.
And many more than 10,000 people were outside the Capitol grounds, the acting chief said during a hearing in parliament on the violent assault.
Many people are under investigation, including 35 agents. Six of them have already been suspended.
The stampede took place after a speech by Trump nearby. At the time, Trump’s electoral defeat was sealed in the Capitol.
Capitol security forces were unable to stop the attack. The riots killed five people, including a police officer.
