Omikron Turns European Corona Map Dark Red
The omikron variant of the coronavirus is on the rise in Europe. This is also reflected in the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Almost the entire continent is now dark red.
ECDC publishes a colour-coded map every Thursday, based on the number of COVID-19 infections and the number of positive corona tests in the past fourteen days.
The colours range from green to yellow, red and dark red, depending on the severity of the epidemiological situation.
Romania was for a time a ‘bright spot’ with the colours green and yellow – except for the capital Bucharest – then that is now a thing of the past.
The country turns red, with also large parts of Poland and eastern Hungary. The rest of Europe is dark red.
