Man Attacks Several People with Knife in Oslo and is Shot Dead by Police

In the Norwegian capital Oslo, a man stabbed several people with a knife on the street. An officer was injured. The perpetrator was shot dead by the police, various media report.


Norwegian media published images of the suspected perpetrator. The man had a bare upper body and appeared to attack random people with a knife. The incident occurred in the Bislett neighbourhood.

A police officer who tried to arrest the man was injured, police confirmed.

The suspected perpetrator was shot dead. Therefore, there would be no terror. “We are not ruling out motives, but there is no information at this stage pointing to a terrorist attack,” Inspector Egil Jørgen Brekke said at a news conference.

Police declined to provide details on the identity of the man who was shot. However, according to the Norwegian daily Verdens Gang, it concerns a Russian man in his thirties who was sentenced to psychiatric care in December 2020 after a knife attack in Oslo a year earlier.
