Kidnapped Jogster (17) Confesses to Lying: I’m Sorry I Caused Such a Commotion
The jogster (17) from northwestern France who claimed that she had been kidnapped and then escaped made everything up on Tuesday. This is reported by the Public Prosecution Service in the city of Laval (Mayenne).
The girl confessed to lying in a new interrogation. “She went on her own on foot to Sablé-sur-Sarthe, where she was found Tuesday evening. There is, therefore, no question of one or more kidnappers,” the public prosecutor said in a statement. “She said she was sorry for causing such a commotion and massive mobilization (of two hundred investigators, ed.) and will be the subject of an imaginary crime report procedure. The injuries that could be seen, she would have suffered accidentally. She broke her T-shirt herself with scissors.”
Further research should reveal why Lisa P. lied. The investigators already had their doubts because some of the girl’s statements did not match the facts. For example, the green van she was allegedly abducted was nowhere to be seen on surveillance footage.
According to the AFP news agency, the girl left her parental home in Saint-Brice on Monday around 4 p.m. for her regular 5 kilometres round. By evening, however, she still had not returned. The parents then went to look for their daughter. The father checked his daughter’s running route and found several items that belonged to his daughter, such as a GPS watch, telephone and earplugs with traces of blood on them. He reported the girl’s disappearance to the police at 6:40 p.m. Two hundred officers were immediately called in to search for the 17-year-old.
The girl turned up on Tuesday evening around 8 p.m. at a kebab shop in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, about 10 kilometres from her hometown. According to Ouest-France and Le Parisien, she was found bloodied and asked for help. Instead, the teen was taken to the hospital for treatment and examination, after which she was reunited with her parents.
BFMTV wrote that the young Frenchwoman said in her initial statements that she had escaped one or more kidnappers in a forest. However, a neighbour of the restaurant tells the medium that the girl allegedly got out of a vehicle belonging to her kidnapper and entered the restaurant. “And suddenly, the kidnapper fled.”
