Google Wants to release Drive Storage and other Cloud services in China. Google wants to release its storage service Drive and the cloud and office services around Google Docs in China.
The company is reviewing this with, amongst others, the Chinese tech company Tencent.
Google wants to offer its cloud services via data centres and servers from Chinese companies such as Tencent.
China requires data to be stored within the country’s borders and Google currently does not have data centres in the country itself.
According to reports, discussions started at the beginning of 2018.
How severe the conversations with Chinese companies are is not known.
Also, the United States and China are currently involved in a trade conflict.
It is unclear whether Google will make its cloud services possible in China.
Earlier in August, it was announced that Google is planning to offer a censored version of its search engine in China.
The company has taken so much of objection from, for example, human rights organisations.
