EU Import Duties on Aluminium from China Against Dumping

The European Union imposes import duties on rolled aluminium from China.

In this way, Brussels wants to combat cheap Chinese aluminium dumping on the European market and protect European aluminium producers.

These are provisional rates that vary from 19.3 to 46.7 percent of the original import value, depending on the exporter. The changes take effect on Tuesday and are valid for six months. They can be extended for five years.

The charges follow an investigation that began in August following complaints from the European aluminium industry association about China’s dumping practices.

The EU previously imposed import duties on Chinese steel and steel products to prevent dumping on the European market and to protect companies.
