EU Buys Another 100 Million Doses of Pfizer Vaccine
The European Union is purchasing an additional 100 million doses of the corona vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech.
President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission reported this on Twitter on Tuesday.
The new order originates on top of the 200 million that the EU previously purchased from this American-German manufacturer.
The first order of 200 million inoculations with the Pfizer vaccine will be delivered to all EU countries by September 2021. The vaccine is shipped in bulk every week.
The EU has previously signed contracts with AstraZeneca (300 million doses), Sanofi-GSK (300 million) and Johnson & Johnson (200 million).
These resources have not yet been approved.
