British Prime Minister Johnson Thinks P&O Ferries Should Resign After Mass Layoff
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson says P&O Ferries CEO Peter Hebblethwaite should resign after admitting he violated the law by firing 800 people in one fell swoop.
Johnson confirmed to British media that he supports his transport minister’s call. Earlier Friday, he told Sky News that he found the CEO’s statements “brutal” and show “an incredible arrogance”.
“I can’t believe he can stay in that role (…) He broke the law,” said Transportation Secretary Grant Shapps.
Earlier this week, the British Prime Minister announced that the government would take legal action against the British ferry company. “P&O can’t get away with this,” it sounded.
