Britain to Sign Brexit Trade Deal With Norway
The United Kingdom has signed a deal with Norway on post-Brexit trade relations. Norwegian state broadcaster NRK and news agency NTB reported this based on sources.
Details of the trade deal are reportedly being released on Friday.
The Norwegian parliament must approve the deal. A spokesman for the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries could not confirm the report.
The British trade ministry said talks are still ongoing and are progressing well. Both sides are committed to the swift conclusion of a new trade agreement, the spokesperson said.
After the United Kingdom departed from the European Union and the end of the transition period at the end of December, the British and Norwegians had to make do with temporary trade agreements.
As an EU member, London previously had a trade agreement with Oslo. Norway is not part of the EU, but it participates in important country bloc programs.
