Australia will certainly not open its borders to foreign tourists before 2022. Foreigners have not been able to go on holiday to the country since March last year. It is not yet clear when this corona measure will be lifted.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the priority in resuming international travel is with its own people on the TV program Sunrise.

The first Australians and people with a permanent residence permit will be allowed to leave the country from November for holidays, for the first time in a year and a half. Returning from abroad is always allowed, provided that people go into quarantine, but travelling out is currently almost impossible.

Once the quarantine procedures go well, the next group will be eligible for travel to and from Australia. It consists of skilled migrants and students. “They are another key priority, and I believe we will have international visitors next year as well,” said Morrison. Details were not mentioned.
