African Energy Trip Prime Minister Draghi Cancelled Due to Corona
Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has cancelled a planned visit to African countries to discuss more energy supplies to Italy because he is infected with the coronavirus.
He was actually supposed to go to oil-rich Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo later this week.
His foreign minister and other ministers will now replace Draghi. Italy is looking for alternatives in Africa to Russian energy.
The country has already recently signed agreements with Algeria and Egypt for more natural gas supplies. The Italian energy group Eni also hopes to pump up more gas in Libya.
According to Draghi’s office, the 74-year-old prime minister has no symptoms of a corona infection.
